Extracurriculares

Hola, Sports Fans!.

The SCISL News has been updated in preparation for a climactic final week of the regular season. To see all the latest game accounts, pictures, standings, schedules and statistics, go to  scisl.blogspot.com.

The coming week promises to provide some fitting finales to what has been an exciting season. The venue where ticket-scalping is probably most likely for the varsity contests is at Cooperative, where the high-riding Jaguars will be hosting their most dangerous opponent, the Christian Learning Eagles.

On Tuesday, the Eagles boys volleyball team (4-1) gets its last chance against the undefeated Jaguars (5-0). Same afternoon, same place (a two-ring circus!) the Jaguars girls soccer team will put its undefeated, untied, and unscored-upon status on the line against the Eagle girls (3-2), who have suddenly discovered how to score. The Eagles scored eight goals in their last two games, and their season total in goals is now almost three times greater than their total for all of last year.

On Thursday there will be more hot match ups. In girls volleyball, the Jaguars (4-1) proved vulnerable in their last game against International, and the Eagles (2-3) traditionally get more dangerous as the season progresses, will try to be just as upsetting to the League leaders.

Over on the soccer field there will be a repeat of Tuesday's showdown, this time between the two schools' girls teams. The boys teams may be even more closely matched. The Jaguars (5-0) will be trying keep their flawless record against the Eagles (4-1), who, of course, would like nothing better than to blemish that record and catch the Jaguars in the final game of the season.

Meanwhile, over at International, on Tuesday the boys volleyball teams will be in a battle of the beatens: International (1-4) vs. Cambridge (0-5). If nothing else, it should be close. The Griffins (2-3) will be favored in the girls soccer match up, but the Lady Knights (0-5) could be cooking up a surprise.

The action at International will be even more intense on Thursday. Both the International girls volleyball team (3-2) and Cambridge (1-4) appear to be in ascendant phases, coming off crucial wins last week. The Griffins boys soccer team (1-3-1) and Cambridge (0-4-1) will both be seeking to atone for the fact that the two teams played to a 3-3  tie in their first meeting. The JV Boys soccer game should be unusually intense as well. The International JV (4-1) is leading the League, but Cambridge (2-2-1) has been gaining steam, and, after a slow start, hasn't lost in the second half of the season.

Get out there and yell for your team. (JV games start at 3:45, with varsity games starting about an hour later.) Then tune in to scisl.blogspot.com to get all the results and see how the final standings come out. Results are posted the night of the game.

Cheers,

David Boldt

Cambridge College is proud to announce its acceptance as one of only two schools in North, Central, and South America to hold the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh award.  Selection is a tremendous honor, and we are delighted to begin this next chapter in our already outstanding curriculum.  Go Knights!

The program is comprised of five sections:  community service, development of professional social and practical skills, physical recreation, an adventurous team journey, and a residential project.  Since the Award’s launch nearly 60 years ago, millions of young people have participated in the program, with millions more benefitting from its impact in communities around the world.

By creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award can play a critical role in their development outside the classroom. It also allows their achievements to be consistently recognized worldwide, giving young people unique international accreditation of their experiences.

Bestowal of the Duke of Edinburgh award upon Cambridge College provides yet another opportunity for Cambridge Knights to receive a world-class education

CAMBRIDGE CONFERENCES : INSPIRING TEACHING & INSPIRING LEARNING
In september of 2014 the Director and Vice Director were invited to attended the anual conference at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Upon their return to Bolivia, they were able to bring digital versions of  the conferences themselves. After much anticipation and a good deal of hard work, Cambridge College successfully gave an enhanced version of these lectures along with workshops for teachers from pre school through high school. We are proud to share with our faculty and staff the ever evolving and improving of classroom techniques offered by the University of Cambridge as we proceed with 21st century learning. We are all students of life long learning.
